Proving your identity

When you open a new account with us, we’re required by Money Laundering Regulations to confirm your identity.

Whether you're a new or existing member, we need to confirm your identity when you open a new account with us. Every bank, building society and financial institution needs to do this to comply with regulations which make it harder for criminals to use stolen identities.

 

Details of what you might need to provide and how to provide it when applying for an account with us are given in our How to provide proof of your identity and address leaflet. We’ll only ask for enough information to allow us to open your account.
