Job Title: Chief Risk Officer

Summary

We are looking for a Chief Risk Officer to join our Senior Leadership Team.  Reporting directly to the CEO, this strategic position will be required to hold SMF4 & SMF16 responsibility. This is a varied and challenging opportunity which will require the individual to maintain an effective and robust risk management framework in line with the Society’s Risk Appetite.  In addition the role will be responsible for leading the Risk Team in ensuring the Society complies with all obligations under the Financial Services and Markets Act 2000 and all other regulatory requirements.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Responsibility for overseeing and demonstrating that the risk management policies and procedures adopted are in accordance with regulatory requirements.
  • Report on the Society’s risk exposures relative to its risk appetite.
  • Provide effective leadership to the Risk Team, including the development of individual team members.
  • Ensure financial promotions are compliant with the appropriate rules and regulations.
  • Provide independent assurance to the Executives, Committees and Board.
  • Report any breaches or exceptions and where necessary recommend changes to the Society’s Policies and Procedures.
  • Oversee compliance monitoring, assurance and reporting within the Society and incorporate any findings into regular periodic reports to the Society’s Audit and Board Risk Committees.
  • Liaise with the Society Secretary, Finance Director, Chief Executive, Chair of Board Risk Committee and Chair of the Audit Committee to ensure that any direct regulatory feedback received by the Society is addressed and reported on appropriately.
  • Provide second line oversight of the Society’s policies and procedures ensuring regular reviews are carried out, meet regulatory requirements and remain within the Society’s Risk Appetite.
  • Provide a ‘second line’ assurance over internal audit points closed by the Executive Management.
  • Provide input to and where necessary be a member of the Society’s key Project Management working groups.

Qualifications and Experience required for this role

Essential

  • Business Degree or equivalent with a sufficient relevant financial sector experience
  • Professional qualifications pertinent to role
  • A background in financial services.
  • Working at a senior level within a risk and compliance function within financial services.
  • Track record of operating at a strategic level, providing challenge to senior management on financial and business objectives, risks and implementation of change.
  • Financial Crime Experience
  • Compliance function experience

Desirable

  • Operational and customer service experience
  • Mortgage and lending related experience
  • Operational and Conduct Risk experience

Job Title: Mortgage Administrator

Salary: Dependent upon experience

Key Responsibilities

  •  Assisting with the processing of on-line mortgage applications including the accurate keying of data to the Society’s systems as required.
  •  Provide updates as necessary to relevant parties as to the progress of mortgage applications.
  • Production and issuing of mortgage offer documents to all relevant parties.
  • Administering release of funds for new mortgage business to solicitors and borrowers.
  • Processing of documentation received by the Society in connection with the completion of new mortgage business.
  • Take fees and Instruct valuations and re inspections.
  • Check and execute legal documentation received by the Society in respect of the administration and redemption of mortgage accounts.
  • Support inbound telephony. Deal and resolve with complex mortgage queries from customers.
  • Administration of Title Deeds and associated documents including completing standard and non-standard correspondence and documentation for issue to Solicitors and borrowers, making and receiving telephone calls in connection with queries of Title Deeds and associated documentation.
  • Deal with maturing policies assigned to mortgage accounts. Execute legal documentation received by the Society in respect of administration of life policies, as directed by the Mortgage Operations Manager.
  • Filing of Head Office paperwork in respect of mortgage accounts ensuring that the electronic customer system is accurately maintained.

Qualifications and Experience required for this role

  •     Previous Mortgage experience would be preferred.
  •     Strong communication & customer service skills.
  •     Strong attention to detail.
  •     Excellent organisational skills.
  •     A confident, professional telephone manner.
  •     The ability to work as part of a team.
  •     PC skills including Word and Excel.
