Scottish Building Society has officially extended its partnership with Edinburgh Rugby for another two years, securing its place as the longest running front-of-shirt sponsor in the club’s history. What began in 2020 as a logo on the back of the men’s shirt has evolved into a deep and impactful relationship. Since becoming Main Club Partner in 2021, Scottish Building Society has expanded its support to include the women’s team and invested in a wide range of community initiatives, reinforcing a shared commitment to inclusion, grassroots development, and local impact.
This renewed agreement continues to be the largest sponsorship deal in the history of both organisations. The Scottish Building Society logo will remain proudly displayed on all match kits, including the women’s team competing in the Celtic Challenge league. Beyond the pitch, the partnership has delivered meaningful change through a series of community programmes:
- Tackle Maths: Nearly 1,000 pupils across Scotland have taken part in this innovative schools programme, using rugby to build confidence in numeracy and financial literacy.
- Player of the Month: Over £15,000 has been raised for local charities, with players choosing causes close to their hearts.
- Grassroots Competitions: More than 600 young players have trained with Scotland internationals through the ‘Win a Training Session’ initiative.
- Inclusive Festivals: Seasonal tournaments have brought together over 400 players of different abilities in a safe, welcoming environment.
- Walking Rugby: These popular events have welcomed players of all ages, including one aged 85, highlighting the social power of sport to connect and inspire.
Paul Denton, CEO of Scottish Building Society, said: “Since becoming Main Club Partner in 2021, our relationship with Edinburgh Rugby has grown in scale, depth and purpose.
"What began as a logo on a shirt has become a partnership rooted in shared values - inclusion, community, and ambition. We’re proud to support both the men’s and women’s teams, and to invest in programmes that make a real difference across Scotland. This extension reflects our belief in the club, its people, and the positive impact rugby can have far beyond the pitch.”
Douglas Struth, Managing Director of Edinburgh Rugby, added: “This partnership extension with Scottish Building Society is a huge moment for our club. Their support has become part of the fabric of Edinburgh Rugby, and this new agreement is a significant show of faith that will help secure our future for the seasons to come.
“Scottish Building Society is so much more than a sponsor; they are a true partner at the very heart of our community programmes. From the brilliant success of our flagship Tackle Maths programme to their sponsorship of our inclusive team and subsequent festivals, their backing allows us to make a real, positive impact far beyond the pitch.
“We are incredibly proud to have a partner who shares our values and is dedicated to helping us grow the game, from grassroots up to the professional level. Their continued support of our women's team, in particular, is hugely important as we continue to push the boundaries of what is possible as one club.”
