Last year, we set ourselves a goal to complete 100 Days of Volunteering and we’re proud to say we achieved it! in 2025, colleagues from across Scottish Building Society have been spending time with the charities supported through the Scottish Building Society Foundation, offering hands‑on help where it’s needed most.
This has given colleagues the opportunity to connect directly with the organisations we fund, understand the difference they make in their communities, and contribute practical support that frees up valuable time and resources for frontline work.
Over the past few weeks, teams from across the Society have volunteered with a range of community groups, taking on everything from physical work to behind‑the‑scenes support. Some activities have included:
- Cleaning caravans and tackling end‑of‑season jobs with the Glasgow Children’s Holiday Scheme, helping prepare much‑needed holiday accommodation for vulnerable families.
- Sorting baby clothing bundles at Berwickshire Swap, supporting their mission to make children’s essentials accessible to all.
- Refreshing community spaces at Bonnymuir Green, helping improve a much‑used local resource.
- Repainting and tidying facilities at Forth Canoe Club, ensuring their youth and community sessions can run safely and comfortably.
- Providing practical support at the Edinburgh Tool Library, enabling the charity to continue lending equipment that helps reduce costs and waste for its members.
