The u:Account is what's called a regular savings account, which means you put money in it regularly to get the interest rate that is offered. Regularly means once a month.
Save between £10 and £100 a month.
With the u:Account, SBS is giving you a good interest rate, which is made up from a variable basic interest rate plus another 2% bonus rate on top of that if you stick to the rules.
For example: If you save £10 a month for a year that would mean that you have £120 saved! On top of that, you'll get interest - so that, say the interest rate is 2.00% and then you add the bonus rate, you could get 4.00% from SBS which could take your total to £122.58.
You are also allowed one withdrawal a year - for Christmas presents maybe, or a holiday - whatever reason you like - but remember - only one withdrawal a year as the purpose of this account is to help you save (and gain an understanding of how accounts like this work).
With SBS you can make up to four additional payments a year. So if you get money at Christmas, Easter, Birthday or just because gran is feeling generous, you can put an additional amount into your uAccount.
We also want to keep in touch with you and help you save - and to do this, our uBoss will send you a certificate to celebrate when you have saved £500, and again when you reach £1,000! - u even get a card on your birthday!
