Scottish Building Society and its subsidiary have made the required notification to the Information Commissioner as required by the Data Protection Act 1998.

The way we treat customers' information complies with the Act. One of the principles obliges us to regularly review and audit our security arrangements. Access to your personal information within Scottish Building Society is carefully controlled. Each member of staff is personally responsible for maintaining customer confidentiality and we provide ongoing training to all our staff to remind them about their obligations.

When you become a customer we will ask for your consent to use your information for marketing purposes but you can contact us at any time if you change your mind. We will tell you the purposes for which your information will be processed and any disclosures likely to be made to third parties. You can obtain (for a maximum £10 fee) a copy of the information we hold about you by writing to the General Manager, Scottish Building Society, SBS House, 193 Dalry Road, Edinburgh, EH11 2EF. If you tell us, we will either delete or correct any information that is wrong.
