Applications from outwith Scotland

Normal operating area

Scottish Building Society was originally founded in Edinburgh in 1848 and since then has helped people living in Scotland to save for the future and to buy their own homes.

Our normal operating area is effectively the whole of Scotland, serviced through our six branches and network of local offices. Please click on our Locations page for further details.

Savings Accounts

We are primarily geared towards providing service locally and, irrespective of any lower minimum stated for individual products, we currently require a minimum balance of £1,000 to be maintained for any account opened from outwith our normal operating area.

Mortgages

Again our local emphasis means that the vast majority of our lending is on properties in Scotland. However, we will consider applications from existing members moving to other parts of the UK and also new borrowers whose property is in one of the northern counties of England. Please contact us for further details.
